Starfurl In-Boom Furler
Starfurl
Sail with simplicity and safety. Lightweight in-boom furler, ideal for custom projects and refit. Electric or manual system. Installation possible without unstepping the mast.
Benefits
Strength and lightness
Built using composite material technology (fiberglass and carbon) vacuum-cured to ensure strength, stiffness, and lightness.
Easy handling
Hoisting, furling, and even reefing can be carried out by one person, easily and comfortably, from the cockpit.
Safety and performance
Compatible with many sailboat types, it is a proven solution that keeps performance while increasing safety.
Aesthetics and innovation
Clean in design and effective in practice, it provides technological assistance for everyday sailing.
High-performance sail
Unlike other systems, the boat keeps a mainsail that preserves all the characteristics of a high-performance sail, with the original roach for full-batten sails.
How it works
The boom is made from composite materials and sized (weight, length, volume) case by case to fit each boat. The gooseneck, boom kicker, and clew points are custom-made.
The rail installed on the mast allows the sail luff to slide without additional assistance. In addition, a ramp is installed on the rear face of the mast to ease sail passage.
The loop line drives the boom furling mechanism. It is installed on the outhaul line clutch or the reef line clutch. There is also an option for booms with a Bamar electric motor. This system has two goosenecks, one for the boom shell and one for the mandrel, to improve load distribution on the mast.

Why Install a Starfurl In-Boom Furler on Your Sailboat?

With the Starfurl solution distributed by Nautex International, it becomes possible to furl, reef or drop the mainsail directly from the cockpit, while retaining the performance of your sailboat's original sail plan.

The Different Manoeuvres
Hoisting manoeuvre
The mainsail is hoisted from the cockpit. The boat must be kept head to wind. The boom is held high by the topping lift or boom vang so that it is correctly set — neither too high nor too low relative to the optimal sail position.
A visual reference will clearly identify the correct boom angle for manoeuvres.

Lowering manoeuvre
To drop or reef the mainsail, keep the boat head to wind and check that the boom height is correct. Engage the closed circuit on the winch and release the halyard.
When the system is engaged, the sail furls into the boom. If you only need to reduce mainsail area, furling stops at the desired position to resume sailing.
Custom booms
Its system allows hoisting, dropping and reefing in complete safety from the cockpit: the ideal partner for sailing with a reduced crew.
Particularly suited to refit projects, the Starfurl boom has a key advantage: it is not always necessary to unstep the mast to install the mast track, saving time, reducing technical constraints and limiting installation costs.
In terms of performance, the Starfurl system preserves your sailboat's full potential. Each boom is custom-built to integrate perfectly with your boat and project. Thanks to its lightness, the system improves boat behaviour and comfort under sail. Its modern, integrated design fits harmoniously on all types of sailboats.
Finally, its competitive pricing makes it a particularly attractive solution for all projects.
