Lightning Dissipator

Forespar

The Forespar Lightning Master is a static dissipator designed to reduce exposure to direct lightning strikes on your vessel. The same technology protects telecommunications and broadcast towers: it limits ground charge build-up and delays the formation of ionic "streamers" that complete the lightning path. 21 inches (approx. 53 cm), approx. 147 g, masthead mounting, suited to all boat types.

A Static Dissipator Suited to All Boats

Lightning protection at sea relies on controlling static charges at the top of the rig.

The Lightning Master uses the point discharge principle: it gradually dissipates the mass potential responsible for strikes, at low intensity and over time, rather than in a sudden discharge. It mounts on the masthead (or highest point of the boat) and extends vertically above the masthead equipment.

Specifications: Total length approx. 21″, 3/8″ rod, stainless steel, two mounting holes at the base. Reduced weight and windage.

Installation: The dissipator must be electrically bonded to the boat's grounding system (low-resistance path to ground). A mast and rigging already properly grounded can serve as the bond.

Reference: 151100 (MA151100 for distributors).

Forespar does not claim 100% effectiveness — no device can at this time — but the product acts on the triggering mechanisms of direct strikes and reduces their probability (over 7,000 units in service worldwide).
