The Jiber genoa furler made by Ubi Maior and distributed by Nautex is remarkable in several respects.
The sail can be attached to the stay using 2 systems: small straps with T-bone, or a zipped luff. In both cases the jib can be fitted and removed very quickly — much faster than conventional furlers.
Not having aluminium elements around the stay means we save over 30 kg compared to the classic system — it may seem little but those kilos count a lot, especially when they are aloft!
An additional advantage is better windward performance thanks to reduced drag and leeway near the jib's leading edge, allowing the boat to point higher and sail faster.
